Suzanne has been involved in animal sheltering for the past 12 years, serving as volunteer, shelter technician, volunteer and humane education director, development director, and executive director. Suzanne served as president of the Maine Federation of Humane Societies and as vice president of the New England Federation of Humane Societies and president of the Tennessee Humane Association. She was a committee member of Spay Maine and Spay/Neuter Tennessee. She currently serves as secretary of Humane Net. Before coming to Charleston she was project manager at the Elephant Sanctuary in Tennessee, where she co-founded the High Forest Humane Society and served as president.
Originally from Charleston, Diane received her B.S. in Philosophy from Swarthmore College in 1976 and her Masters Degree in Computer Science from Boston University in 1984. Her past experience has been primarily in the software technology of high volume, transaction-oriented information systems in the brokerage, health and retail fields. She has owned several businesses and is currently the President of DMS Equipment, a company that finances the import/export of heavy construction equipment.
Laurel K. Greer, Vice President of Pet Helpers, Inc. joined the Board of Directors in 1999. Laurel moved permanently to the Charleston area in that same year. She is a retired Group Vice President of Valassis Communications, a sales and marketing firm in Michigan. Specific responsibilities included the management of over 100 people, $200 million dollars in purchases of advertising space, and three divisions with an operating budget exceeding $1.5MM. Other eleemosynary efforts have included board positions or volunteer work with: an organization that runs homes for homeless young single women with infants; a child abuse organization; and, two other homeless pet organizations.
